What is Petism?

​Petist (plural Petists)

​1. a person who sees the relationships between humans and their pets and affirms that there is an intelligent supernatural being and/or beings that are superior to humans and that see humans in ways similar to how humans view other creatures. Petism compares the hierarchy of humans and our pets to God and humans.

2. a person who supports pet adoptions.

3. a veterinarian who specializes in household animals.

4. a person who likes one type of household animal more than another (cats versus dogs).
